Here are some proven study strategies to get good marks in NEET (UG) 2025:
Understand the Syllabus and Exam Pattern
To succeed in any exam, it's crucial to thoroughly understand the syllabus and exam pattern. This approach will give your mind clarity on what to study and how to study. Every student should print out the syllabus and highlight the important topics. The NEET syllabus is available on the official websites of NMC and NTA. To grasp the exam pattern, you can refer to previous year question papers or take mock tests. Previous year papers can be found on various educational websites, and mock tests are available on apps or websites.
NEET questions are from three subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology), following the NCERT syllabus for classes 11 and 12. Here’s the exam breakdown:
- 180 questions (720 marks total)
- Physics: 45 questions
- Chemistry: 45 questions
- Biology: 90 questions (Botany + Zoology)
- Marking scheme: 4 marks for each correct answer, and a 1-mark deduction for each wrong answer
Create a Well-Structured Study Plan
While preparing for any competitive exam, it is necessary to make a schedule for that exam. Every student should make a proper schedule so they can qualify for the exam without hesitation. For the NEET exam as well, you need to make a schedule so you clearly know what to do and when. While making a schedule, we should include everything like sleeping time, waking time, breakfast time, lunch time, and dinner time, etc.
You can make your schedule by keeping day-wise, short-term goals, and long-term goals in mind. Let’s now understand these terms one by one.
1. Day-wise Schedule:
When you make your schedule, it’s important to make it day-wise so that you know what you have to do throughout the day. In your daily schedule, include all three of your subjects along with meal times and sleep times. Keep in mind that when you make the schedule for the first time, make it a little simple and easy, so it’s easy for you to follow. Then, slowly you will level up.
2. Short-term Goals:
It is scientifically proven that if you want to do a task quickly and with focus, you need to trick your brain so that it works actively. What is tricking the brain? Don’t worry, I’ll explain. Your brain always wants rest or comfort. So, if you force your brain that all this work must be done, etc., there’s a possibility that you won’t be able to do it properly because your brain doesn’t know by when it needs to be done. So, what I mean is, first make small goals that are easy to achieve. For example, make sure in your mind that I will complete these two chapters this week, then take a two- or one-day break. Then your brain will accept it, just because it seems easy to your brain.
3. Long-term Goals:
Now, once you are trained by completing small goals, then set bigger goals. For example, I will complete Part 1 in the coming 6 months. Then in the next 6 months, I will complete another part. Every month, I will take a full syllabus test.
Conclusion:
The NEET (UG) exam is a tough competitive exam, and proper preparation is essential. By following these tips and setting your own rules, you’ll stay on track. Most importantly, remember that your health comes first. Take good care of yourself, eat your meals on time, and balance your studies with proper rest.
