The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has inaugurated its state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, a massive 40-acre facility designed to elevate Indian cricket and sports science. The Centre boasts three international-standard cricket grounds, including an 85-yard boundary for Ground A and practice grounds B and C. It also features 86 pitches, both indoor and outdoor, equipped for year-round training.
One of the facility's highlights is its Sports Science and Medicine Block, which provides cutting-edge equipment for rehabilitation and athlete recovery. This facility will support both cricketers and athletes from other disciplines, aligning with BCCI’s broader vision to foster talent across sports.
BCCI Secretary Jay Shah highlighted the facility’s role in shaping future athletes and expressed confidence that it would enhance India's competitiveness on the global stage.
In a tweet Shah , expressed his happiness saying, "I am delighted to announce the launch of the Centre of Excellence by @BCCI. The state-of-the-art facility features three world-class playing grounds, a swimming pool, a pavilion, and advanced training, recovery, and medical amenities. This initiative will help current and future cricketers hone their skills, ensuring high performance and a bright future for Indian cricket! "
The Centre’s innovative drainage system ensures that weather disruptions are minimal, allowing uninterrupted training and matches, even during the monsoon.
The facility also replaces the old National Cricket Academy (NCA) and is expected to serve as the new hub for elite-level cricket coaching and development. With the presence of world-class infrastructure and sports science, the Centre is poised to play a pivotal role in the future of Indian cricket.
Furthermore, the Centre’s 45 practice wickets will cater to various formats, helping players fine-tune their skills ahead of national and international tournaments. The BCCI's initiative underscores its dedication to pushing Indian cricket forward with comprehensive training resources, focused rehabilitation, and year-round training support.
